APM Terminals Maasvlakte II: the most modern gateway to Europe

Two weeks ago, together with several colleagues, we visited APM Terminals Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam. During this tour, we got an interesting picture of how this highly automated container terminal organizes its operations.

Huge container ships arrive here every day, after which thousands of containers are transported further into Europe via trucks, rail and inland navigation. Safety, efficiency and a high level of automation are central to this. APM Terminals Maasvlakte II is one of the most advanced automated container terminals in the world, located in the Port of Rotterdam. The terminal combines innovative technology with sustainability and efficiency to optimize global logistics flows. APM Terminals Maasvlakte II is a fully electrified terminal running on renewable electricity, with energy-efficient buildings and facilities. With ambitious expansion plans, the terminal is positioning itself as the most modern gateway to Europe.

During our visit, we received an explanation of the planned expansion of the terminal, which includes new infrastructure and quay facilities. For this program BENK PROJECTS provides support in the areas of project control, project administration, HR support and document control.

It was valuable to see up close how a project of this magnitude is prepared and executed, and what cooperation is involved. Thanks to Chris van Elswijk (HR Partner) for the explanation and the hospitable welcome.
