I am Mariël, living in Groningen and working as a recruiter at BENK PROJECTS since November 2025. My career did not start in job placement, but in the sports world. There I learned what discipline, perseverance and cooperation really mean. The switch to recruitment eventually felt very logical, because for me it has always been about people and development. The moment when you really understand someone and discover together which step fits, that's what energizes me.
What I love about my job is that no day is the same. Every day I speak to professionals with different backgrounds, ambitions and stories. That variety keeps me on my toes and ensures that I keep learning. I prefer to work in a personal and transparent way: honest, clear and with genuine interest. Ultimately, for me it is not just about a placement, but about the feeling that someone is really in place.
In my spare time I consciously seek a balance between being active and relaxing. Sports still play a big role in this; you can regularly find me on the padel court, in the gym or running outside to clear my head. At the same time I can enjoy being at home; cooking, trying out new recipes or working on my interior. Good conversations, humor and sociability are indispensable to me. Whether with candidates, colleagues or friends, people around me give me energy. I like to put that energy back into my work! Because ultimately I believe that you achieve the best results when you can be yourself and have fun in what you do.
