Petra works as a senior work planner at Rasenberg, but her colleagues describe her as a jack-of-all-trades.
She is responsible for a wide range of tasks, from arranging permits to coordinating street work. "I arrange traffic plans and do everything with the municipalities," she explains.
She also ensures that all files coming in are properly processed and checked.
When a request comes in through mijnaansluiting.nl, it first goes to the grid operator, who conducts an investigation and makes an offer. Only after payment by the customer - which can vary from a week to several months - does the process really start.
From the payment date, the grid operator has 18 weeks to transfer the file, including permits and preparations, to its team. After that, they have another 8 weeks to execute the project, provided there are no complications such as contaminated soil.
Rasenberg works on both house connections and large projects, such as constructing complete networks in neighborhoods. Old pipes are removed and replaced with new ones, but they also lay complete new networks in newly built neighborhoods.
Petra herself works in the home connections department, where smaller projects such as new connections or reinforcements are carried out. Larger projects go to the infra department. Every project begins with soil testing and obtaining permits, especially for contaminated soil, which requires specialized teams.
Rasenberg Cables and Pipelines (NL) forms one of the links in the range of underground infrastructure activities. With its three main disciplines namely cable works, pipeline works and drilling, the company realizes the construction of transmission lines, distribution networks and utilities. This is done entirely in-house. (source: apkgroup Rasenberg).
Rasenberg works in the Netherlands on construction, infrastructure, environmental and process technology projects. We work for national government, provinces, municipalities, Rijkswaterstaat, engineering and consultancy firms, architects, project developers, energy companies, (food) industry and environmental services, among others.
"I like everything about my job. I like figuring things out and organizing. Just put it on my desk, I'll figure it out. I also get almost everything done, even when you have to arrange something at a municipality five days in advance. I like challenges like that.
I like less being on 1 big project, that's not for me. I prefer to have different input and new files in front of me every day. It often involves permits, soil surveys or contaminated soil - every day brings something different."
Petra chose BENK because the feeling was right away. "It felt right anyway," she says. Her former colleague Elis, who now works at Stedin, had always spoken enthusiastically about BENK. On Elis' advice, she decided to talk to Kevin, her contact at BENK. Since then, everything went at a brisk pace and Petra has been working at BENK PROJECTS.
She immediately fell head over heels and shortly thereafter was immediately invited to the annual year-end dinner at the Euromast with all her colleagues.
