Van Gelder Fiber optic Kabelnoord

Van Gelder Telecom is laying fiber optics in ten Frisian municipalities on behalf of Kabelnoord. The entire project consists of two sub-projects. In one project, approximately 10,000 coax connections will be converted to fiber optics (the Own Area in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân). In the other project, in the other municipalities, provisions will be made for fiber optics in the outlying areas for 22,000 addresses. This involves a total of some 20,000 new connections.

To realize all this, a great deal of digging and drilling is required, totaling as much as 3,500 kilometers for the outlying areas and 800 kilometers for the Own Area. That amounts to about thirty to forty kilometers per week. That's quite a lot and making and sticking to the schedule is therefore the biggest challenge within this project.

Janita Nagelkerke

HR at Van Gelder Telecom

In the time that I have been active for Van Gelder, the cooperation with BENK PROJECTS has been very successful. Within Van Gelder I am working within the telecom division, where I am responsible for the advice and guidance in the field of, among other things, the deployment of capacity on our projects. When I started working at Van Gelder, there was already a permanent collaboration with BENK PROJECTS, on which I could build, for me this was the beginning of the collaboration with our regular contact person. Kevin. What makes the cooperation so nice is that we know what we have in each other, where the consultants' knowledge of our industry and company is a great advantage. Rarely is a profile delivered that does not meet our expectations. After all, we are a pure contractor and that includes specific profiles of candidates.

It is important to keep up the good work because Van Gelder is moving toward a future picture that will require different profiles. For example, many more personnel will be needed for maintenance after the cables are laid.

Ger Starmans

assistant general manager at BENK PROJECTS

I am currently an assistant general manager at BENK PROJECTS. I work on the fiber optic Cable North project for the client Van Gelder. I have been doing this since 2019 and enjoy working here for three days a week, so I can help out on my wife's care farm the other two days.

When collective redundancy threatened at my previous employer, I contacted BENK PROJECTS, among others. I was surprised how much demand there was within the telecom sector, because I could choose from four different employers. I finally chose BENK PROJECTS because the entire package best suited my needs.
I like the cooperation very much. There is regular contact, just asking how things are going, both with me and with the client. Because of this, any noise can be eliminated immediately, which I personally like very much.

I find that BENK PROJECTS distinguishes itself by looking at the person themselves and arriving at the best project commitment from there. This ensures that there is a good chance that it will click and that benefits everyone.
